Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

RideTick provides a platform for pre-booked passenger transfers. This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is processed when passengers, customers, drivers, transport providers and other visitors use the RideTick website, accounts and related services.

2. Controller and contact details

The controller responsible for the processing described in this Privacy Policy is:

RideTick AG
Bergstrasse 213
5274 Mettau
Switzerland

Privacy enquiries may be sent to privacy@ridetick.com.

3. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to RideTick's platform for requesting pre-booked transfers, receiving and comparing offers, selecting a driver or transport provider, administering rides and using associated account, communication and support functions. The data processed in a particular case depends on the person's role, the features used and the information supplied.

4. Personal data we process

Depending on role and use, RideTick may process:

  • account and profile information, including names, contact details, email addresses and authentication or account data;
  • passenger and driver profile data, and driver, business or vehicle information where supplied;
  • ride requests and bookings, pickup and drop-off locations or addresses, ride dates and times, resolved time zones, and passenger, group or trip details supplied for a ride;
  • bids and offers, selected-driver information and records relating to assignments or ride administration;
  • currencies, fares, pricing and foreign-exchange records;
  • payment or commission attempts and financial administration records where applicable, and settlement-related records where the relevant functionality is enabled;
  • communications, support and contact requests, notifications and newsletter subscription information;
  • login, security and audit information, IP addresses, approximate geolocation where applicable, session data and technical or browser information.

Not every category is collected from every user.

5. How we collect data

We receive data directly when a person creates or updates an account, submits a ride request or offer, chooses a driver, communicates through the platform, contacts support or subscribes to a newsletter. We also generate records through use of the service, such as ride, pricing, currency, assignment, security and audit records. Technical data may be received automatically from a browser, device or configured service provider.

6. Purposes of processing

We process personal data to:

  • create and administer accounts;
  • enable ride requests, quotations, driver selection and performance of requested transfers;
  • calculate and preserve relevant pricing, currency, financial and settlement records;
  • send transactional messages, ride updates and other requested communications;
  • provide customer support and address questions, complaints or disputes;
  • operate, maintain, diagnose and improve the platform;
  • protect accounts and services, prevent misuse or fraud and maintain security and audit records;
  • meet legal, regulatory, accounting and record-keeping obligations.

7. Legal bases

RideTick processes personal data under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and other applicable Swiss law. Where the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, processing is based, as appropriate, on performance of a contract or steps requested before entering into a contract, RideTick's or another party's legitimate interests, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where it is specifically requested. Legitimate interests may include operating and improving the service, protecting users and the platform, preventing fraud, supporting customers and maintaining business and audit records.

8. Ride requests, drivers and transport providers

RideTick connects customers with drivers or transport providers. Information needed to assess, quote, accept and perform a requested transfer may be made available to prospective or selected providers as appropriate. This may include relevant ride locations, schedule and trip requirements. Contact or other identifying information is disclosed only where needed for the selected service and subject to the platform's applicable workflow. Drivers and transport providers may also provide business, vehicle, offer and operational information to customers. RideTick does not sell personal data.

9. Service providers and other recipients

Personal data may be disclosed, where necessary, to selected or prospective drivers and transport providers; hosting, technical, email, maps, analytics and geolocation providers; professional advisers, legal or accounting recipients; and competent authorities where disclosure is legally required.

  • Hetzner Online GmbH: the main application and database are hosted on a production server in Nuremberg, Germany.
  • Infomaniak: provides transactional email delivery using Swiss or European infrastructure as applicable. Transactional messages are sent from noreply@ridetick.com, and privacy@ridetick.com is delivered to RideTick's support mailbox.
  • Plausible Insights OÜ, Estonia: provides the Plausible Cloud aggregate analytics service described below.
  • Google Maps Platform: provides configured place and time-zone functionality described below.
  • ipapi, operated by apilayer Data Products GmbH, Vienna, Austria: may provide approximate IP-based geolocation.

10. Google Maps Platform

RideTick uses configured Google Maps Platform functionality, including place details and time-zone resolution, to support location and scheduling features. Depending on the feature and how it is used, Google may receive technical or request information such as an IP address, search terms, place information or coordinates. Google operates global infrastructure and may process information internationally, including in the United States and other countries. Google's own terms and privacy information apply to its processing.

11. Plausible Analytics

RideTick uses Plausible Cloud, provided by Plausible Insights OÜ in Estonia, for privacy-oriented aggregate website analytics. Plausible does not use analytics cookies or persistent identifiers, and raw IP addresses are not stored by Plausible. Plausible visitor analytics data is processed and stored in the European Union. This does not mean that the RideTick website uses no cookies: essential session cookies are used as described below.

12. IP-based geolocation

Where approximate geolocation functionality is used, an IP address may be sent to ipapi, operated by apilayer Data Products GmbH in Vienna, Austria, to obtain approximate location information. The result may include data such as an approximate country, city, coordinates or time zone. This is distinct from precise pickup or drop-off information supplied for a ride.

13. Cookies and sessions

RideTick uses essential Laravel or session cookies that are necessary for login, session continuity, security and core website functionality. Disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the service from working correctly. Plausible Analytics does not use analytics cookies. RideTick does not use the Plausible service to create persistent visitor identifiers.

14. International data transfers

Core application hosting is located in Germany. Plausible visitor analytics is processed and stored in the European Union, ipapi is operated from Austria, and Infomaniak provides Swiss or European infrastructure as applicable. Google Maps Platform may involve processing in the United States and other countries outside Switzerland or the EEA. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, RideTick relies on an applicable adequacy mechanism, contractual safeguard or other lawful transfer mechanism as appropriate. This statement does not imply that a particular contractual instrument applies to every transfer.

15. Data retention

RideTick does not currently apply one general automated retention or purge period to all personal data. Data is retained according to the purpose for which it is used, the account or service relationship, the need to maintain ride and business records, legal and accounting duties, potential disputes, and fraud, security or audit requirements. Technical logs and backups may remain for their operational lifecycle before they are overwritten or deleted. Some information may need to be retained after an account is closed where applicable law or legitimate record-keeping requirements permit or require it.

16. Data security

RideTick applies appropriate technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal data, taking into account the nature of the data and the risks of processing. Access and handling are limited according to operational needs. No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security, and users should protect their login details and notify RideTick if they suspect unauthorized account use.

17. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, a person may have rights to information and access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection where applicable, and withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent. Where the GDPR applies, the person may also have a right to data portability and other rights provided by the GDPR. These rights are not absolute and may be limited by legal obligations, the rights of others, or permitted retention of business, financial, security, dispute and audit records.

18. Contact and complaints

Requests or questions concerning personal data may be sent to privacy@ridetick.com or to RideTick AG at the address above. A person may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) and, where the GDPR applies, with a competent EU or EEA supervisory authority.

19. Changes to this Privacy Policy

RideTick may update this Privacy Policy when its services, processing activities or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page, and the date below will be updated. Where required by law, additional notice or consent will be provided.
